Japanese Arts - Obviously too much to cover in a single wikispace,
but we will highlight some examples from our findings and resources...
Let's Begin with a Boom... and "Raise the Roof" with lots of Fun...
1. Japanese Taiko Drumming is an exciting Powerful combination of Martial Arts and Drumming...
As with any arts and music practice, we all start out as Beginners and then journey along its path
to further our inner understandings and outer expressions.
One of the wonderful aspects of Taiko Drumming is that it is Group Drumming,
and the experience of making and performing music as a Group, is a bonding/"banding" :-)
primal human exchange and communication...
That anyone Can Do and Participate in...
An upside-down bucket is an instant drum, so don't worry about school budgets...
First I will present a joyful youthful school age Taiko Celebration...
(One lesson from this video is to remember to give the Biggest Drum to the School Principal :-)

How do you begin a taiko drum class at your school?
Answer: Give the Biggest Drum to your Principal!! :-)
Here is a "Beginners Taiko Drum Student Group" video at youtube:
(You don't start out as an expert, but you do start out with Fun!
Note that screaming students are encouraged, and socially musically acceptable...
how's that for letting-off steam in the school gymnasium...
and girls get to bang on the drums too: Taiko Drumming is Gender Equitable :-)

ps: Question:
"How much does it cost to create a Taiko Drum Class at your School?"
Answer:
Very Cheap! You can use the "Home Depot Discount Method": small red plastic buckets and large black plastic trash cans
turned upside down for a Complete Class-Size Taiko Drum "Orchestra"...
See the following youtube video posted at our Edutopia Arts Group:
http://www.youtube.com/user/wellsfargo?v=xjG9ggZmttk&feature=pyv&ad=1061...

And now, with that Energy Boost, we are ready to see and hear a highly advanced (and disciplined) Powerful Group of Performers
Drum-Up your Energy Boom... :-)
Think about what a High School Taiko-type Drum Band could do for your Football Team's "Performance"... :-)
Now Enjoy the Boom-Boom-BOOM...
